TealChain
TealChain is a habit and to-do tracker that turns daily check-ins into an unbroken chain. This page explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
TealChain does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, and no servers — everything you enter stays in the app's private storage on your own device.
Information we collect
None. We do not ask for an email address, a phone number, a name that leaves your device, or any other personal detail. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Data stored on your device
To make the app work, TealChain stores the following only on your device, using the operating system's local storage:
- Habits — the title, optional note, icon, colour, category and weekly schedule of each habit you create or adopt from the built-in library.
- Daily check-ins — which habit you completed on which calendar day, and the time of day you marked it. This is what the streaks, completion rates, charts and heat map are calculated from.
- Tasks — the title, optional note, weight, due date and completion time of each item on your docket.
- Your profile — the display name and avatar mark you pick on the Profile screen, plus the date you first opened the app. The default name is "Chainkeeper"; you are never asked for your real name.
- Achievements — which of the ten laurels you have earned and when.
- Preferences — daily goal, week start day, reduce-motion, compact rows, confirm-before-removing, which tab the app opens on.
- First-launch flags — a boolean recording that you have seen the introduction, and the timestamp of first launch.
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to TealChain or to any third party. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all of it permanently.
Permissions
TealChain requests no runtime permissions. It does not ask for the camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, notifications or storage access, and the iOS build declares no usage-description keys because it needs none.
The Android manifest declares android.permission.INTERNET. This permission is unused — it is inherited from the project template and no code in the app opens a network connection. It is declared but never exercised.
Network use
TealChain is fully offline. The app contains no HTTP client, no socket code, no cloud database and no third-party network SDK. It works identically in airplane mode.
The one exception under your direct control: the Share button on the Profile screen hands a short line of text (for example, "I am building my daily chain with TealChain. 42 links forged and a 9-day streak running.") to your device's own share sheet. Nothing is sent until you pick a destination app yourself, and where it goes from there is governed by that app's privacy policy, not ours.
Third-party services
None are integrated. TealChain contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no attribution SDK, no social login and no remote configuration. The only third-party code in the build is open-source Flutter packages that run entirely on-device: local storage, charting, date formatting, state management and the system share sheet.
Children's privacy
TealChain collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (COPPA) or under 16 (GDPR-K). Because nothing is collected or transmitted, there is no children's data for us to hold, process or delete.
Your rights
Habits, check-ins, tasks, profile, achievements and preferences are stored with the Hive local database. The first-launch flags use the platform's standard shared-preferences store. Neither is backed up to us, because there is no "us" on the network.
Your data never leaves your device, so you hold it directly rather than requesting it from us:
- Access — everything the app stores is visible inside the app itself.
- Correct — edit any habit, task, note or profile detail at any time. The habit detail screen lets you add or remove a check-in for any of the last fourteen days.
- Delete — delete individual habits (which also removes their check-ins), delete or clear tasks, or archive habits you want to set aside.
- Erase everything — uninstalling TealChain removes the app's private storage and every record described above. There is no server copy and nothing to request from us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
